Hi All!

I have a PC with XP Home and IE 6 with all service packs and updates loaded.

Whenever I delete an item from the inbox, it disappears, it does not go to the deleted folder.

I made sure the option in maintenance "empty messages from the deleted items folder on exit" is unchecked and it is.

Is there anything I may be missing as to why this is happening?

Thank you in advance
Jennifer

My first two thoughts:

1. A stuck Shift key on your keyboard
This can be confirmed or refuted by simply typing something in Notepad or any word processor.
2. A corrupt Deleted Items.dbx folder
With OE closed, search your hard drive for *.dbx. Be sure to include hidden & system files in your search. When you find Deleted Items.dbx, delete it. When you start OE a new one will be created.

any other thoughts.

a *.dbx serach brought up only one result and it wasn't the deleted folder, nor any other folders in OE.

thanks for your time

If you're using OE and local folders, the dbx folders are there. Did you include hidden & system files in the search? Look at Tools, Options, Maintenance tab, Store Folder button - this will show you where the files are.

interesting enough i did include hidden and system files before i searched for *.dbx and still came up with only one search result.

anyhow, thank you for your assistance. i went directly to the root of the store folder, deleted the deleted folder, reopened OE and WAH-LA a new folder was created. i sent an item to the deleted folder and it was in there when i checked....smah, you are a genius...thank you.

now....can you solve my "sharing outlook 2002 calendar" post ??????

thanks again !
