Hello,

My outlook 2000 has been configured as default mail client everywhere on my PC, but still, when I click an e-mail link in the body of my e-mails it automatically gives a new mail in Outlook Express. Even with the registry edited so that Outlook Express seems to be uninstalled, it keeps doing this. Any advice?

Thank you for your time!

In Internet Explorer (if that's what your using):
Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab > select what program to choose for e-mail

Hmmm now I'm guessing....

Are all your MS Upgrades up-to-date?

Have you completely removed OExpress?

Have you tried Help > Detect and Repair?

Have you Removed/Re-installed Outlook (alone)?

Thanks guys.

I found a solution here:
Which says:
If you use Internet Explorer's Tools / Internet Options / Programs tab, and toggle the E-mail drop-down list, you can see that Microsoft enables you to set Forte Agent, Hotmail, Microsoft Outlook, or Outlook Express as the default e-mail client for mailto links, MAPI calls, and Internet Explorers Tools / Mail and News e-mail links. These choices are located in the registry, as sub-keys of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail.

When you select the e-mail client, the values at the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto key and sub-keys are also modified, which means that all users will have the same default.
