Outlook deletes E-mails by itself

I have Outlook 2000 SR-1 installed and for some reason it sends "some" new E-mails to the deleted folder and there is no rule setup to do it.

I am using the junk e-mail option for some e-mails but not for these addresses. I was expecting an e-mail response from a company and I did not get one. I looked in the deleted folder and the response was there. So I checked the junk e-mail rules for this address and there was no match. I then removed all the rules to move e-mails to the deleted folder, and they still get sent to the deleted folder.

Is there something else that I can check so that these e-mails remain in the in box?

Do you have the Organize option for Junk E-mail turned on? Click on Tools, Organize and choose the Junk E-mail link. Be sure the buttons both say "Turn On" (which means they are turned off!). Even if you turn the Junk e-mail rules off in the wizard, if the junk e-mail option was chosen through Organize, it seems to stay on.

I will try turning the junk e-mail off completely. I only removed all the addresses that were in the rules.

The Junk E-mail option also filters by content. It looks for certain words in the subject line or body of the e-mail such as "free, $$$, etc." You can download the list of words by going to Tools, Organize, click on Junk E-mail and click on the "Click Here" link. I personally would not recommend using it at work, because something might fall through the cracks. Or instead of deleting the e-mails, send them to another folder so you can quickly review them each day before trashing them.
