When I try to close an email in outlook by clicking on the X (Close) on the upper right what is happening is that instead of just closing the email and returning to my inbox I exit from Outlook and go to my Desktop. This just started happening. Would appreciate any tips on how to stop this.

I am using Outlook 2003 and Windows XP Professional

I found SCANPST.EXE but not sure where the PST file is that you say I should run this on. Can you let me know where to find this file.

Do you see the Outlook logo down near clock when this happens?
If so, right click it and uncheck Hide When Minimized, or do this when Outlook is open normally.

Could also be an add-in problem.

Your PST file is normally in this location:

C:\documents and settings\YourUserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
