Hi All,

I have alot of sub folders to my Inbox, and it takes forever to download mail because Outlook checks for new messages in each folder every time it downloads mail.

Does anyone know how to set outlook to only download messages in the Inbox and skip checking the rest?

Thanks,
HC

I have to confess to not knowing very much and it may be that I'm completely wrong, but ...

... mail isn't in a Folder until it has been downloaded and all the checking that is done is for whether or not there is mail for you. It is only after it has been downloaded that it gets put into the Inbox and then perhaps, by rules, into another folder.

Also, checking, even a lot of folders, shouldn't take long.

Or are you talking about synchronising two systems?

Enjoy,
Tony

yes, I have rules that sort the mail from the inbox into various folders, but I do not want the headers to be downloaded until I choose that folder. Right now, it downloads all headers in all folders each time it checks for mail.
I"m using IMAP mail, (I should have stated that sorry)

THanks
HC

I found it.

In Account properties, last tab (IMAP) I unchecked "Check mail in all folders"

duh.

Thanks anyway,

HC
