Hi

I use Outlook 2003 and currently can't access my archive or personal folders as it gives me a messaging saying that it can't find the files and brings up a window to search for the files on my computer but I can't find them.

My outlook is connected to exchange (SBS 2003) is their some where on the server they might be?

Or is their a way to create a new archive and personal folder and copy a backup of these from the server?

Just checked and can login and access emails through the OWA which also allows me to access the archive emails.

What would you recommend as the next step to fixing the outlook issue on that machine?

Have a look in Control Panel, Mail, Under accounts, view or change existing accounts, make sure the default delivery location is set to "Mailbox - John Doe" rather than "Personal Folders"

^^ The above may not be 100% accurate in terms of wording, but should get you to where you need to be.

ps. If your mail is in reality already has the default delivery location as Mailbox - John Doe , unticking "cached mode" should allow you to resolve the issue too.

Difficult to say exactly what your set up is from here :)

Ok I have been able to restore the public archive folder for the user but can't see their personal folder which was their.

ANy ideas how to find this as I can't see a link to it in OWA?

You really need to know where it was stored before you can open it.

As a local search has not been successful ^^, do a search on the server.

Once you have located it, in outlook, go to the file menu, Open, Outlook Data File, then navigate to it.

Have just reread your last post. I have been doing some "assuming" again, which is not the best way to give good answers to problems. I think I have got it right, but I am not 100% sure

Can you clarify what you mean by "public archive folder" and "personal folder"

As an addition to my post above, in outlook, go to the file menu, Open, Outlook Data File, it may well open up in the correct location and show you what you need?
