I have a PC which allows the user to logon to the NT4 Domain but when configuring his Outlook'98 profile it gives an error 'Microsoft Exchange...The name could not be resolved. Network problems are preventing connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server Computer'. The PC is enabled for DNS and WINS and can ping the IP address of the Exchange Server. Even adding an entry to the Hosts file has made no difference. Has anyone experienced this before?

Thanks, Mike

Hi,
I encountered this before.First I change my network cable. If still don't work, try the PC on another network port. It works for me after I change a new NIC card.
Good luck.

Have you also added an entry to the lmhosts file?

If you can browse the network its not a hardware problem. Its usually a resolution issue. In control panel mail, use the ip address of the exchange server instead of the name and see if you can resolve it using check name.

Then ping using the fqdn and see if it resolves to an ip address.

I recently had this problem where I can ping the excahnge Server through it's Host Name and it's IP Address but i was getting the error error Microsoft Exchange...The name could not be resolved. Network problems are preventing connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server Computer. What you want to do is Uninstall the TCP/IP Protocol and reinstall it. Something happened with the bindings.
