I have been having an issue with one of my users. Let me run down the hardware involved.
Toshiba Celeron notebook
10mb NIC
10mb hub
SonicWall Firewall/VPN appliance
Raptor Firewall
896mb Shard T1 - Internet - 256mb DSL
SonicWall Firewall/VPN
10mb Hub
Exchange server 5.5 sp4 on NT 4.0 sp6a Server

Outlook has either crashed or locked out this user several times a day. Generally, closing Outlook and get back in or sometimes ctrl-alt-del to end the task and then he can get back in. This is becoming a large issue. There are four NT 4.0 Workstations also there running either outlook 87 or 2K they have no issue at all. There was also another temporary (traveling) user that plugged into the network there who was running W2K and outlook 2K and had the exact same issues. I have not yet found anything on TechNet and I'm still looking. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

I had a somewhat similar problem at a remote site. A mobile users Outlook 2k couln't find the mail server. My workaround was to add an entry for the mail server in the laptops host file. After a reboot all problems gone, might be worth a try for your problem, can't hurt.

This computer is used both in that office, Headquarters and on-the-road so I already have hosts and lmhosts setup. Thanks for the thought.

Try changing the binding order of the "Exchange Provider" Value in the registry on your client machines to point to tcpip first..

ncacn_ip_tcp

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Exchange

ncalrpc,ncacn_ip_tcp,ncacn_spx,ncacn_np,netbios,ncacn_vns_spp

Looks good already... Can bandwidth have anything to do with this? Kind of a long shot but I'm not finding anything better.
