Outlook 2010 preview pane not clearing

Running outlook 2010 on POP3 reading pane to the right.
When I delete a message it deletes from the inbox but stays in the reading pane. The only way to clear it is to click a different link like drafts and then inbox Anyone else experience this and if so know of a fix?

I had this problem, too, all the way through the beta and now with the release version - but I've solved it for me, anyway:

Recently I found that if you enable listing by conversation (message threading) in the inbox, then messages are deleted from the reading pane as expected.

Maybe it's not a common problem because most people leave conversations enabled. We know it doesn't work very well, so we disable it, but then we get the reading pane problem.
