Using Outlook 2007, I want to set up a task with a reminder that pops up every day at 1500. Seems like this should be a simple proposition, but here's what happens:

Add task. Start Date: None. Due Date: None.

Reminder box shows today's date at 0800, although it's now 1400. I change the reminder to 3/19 at 1500.

Then I click Recurrence > Daily > Start 3/19.

When I click OK, the reminder box has changed back to 3/19 at 0800 and the Due Date box has changed from None to 3/19.

I change the Due Date back to None and change the reminder back to 1500.

This works for one reminder on 3/19, after which Outlook unchecks and grays out the reminder box.

Must be doing something wrong?

I can't give you a solution but I can give you some work-rounds that I've got using Outlook 2002. Sometimes I use 'appointments' on the Calendar for some reminders. Alternatively, I have task with a time and a due date and re-set it each day. Or copy and paste in Calendar to get a lot of instances.

The Outlook philosophy seems opposed to the simple 'reminder' not attached to a task or meeting. I've never understood why. Can anyone cast light on this?

Hard to imagine that Outlook is incapable of handling this simple reminder. I thought I must be missing something really obvious...

Try Add Recurring Even or Recurring Appointment. Choose 15:05 - 15:10. Set Recurrence to Daily with No End Date. Set Reminder to 5 mins before. Categorise as Must Attend.

This works fine for me.

Thanks for the info on using appts. It just seems ludicrous that we should need workarounds like this for a simple recurring task.
