We run Outlook 2003/2007 and Exchange 2000. We have a shared calendar for one of of conference rooms. I had someone who had permissions issues with it (she could create but not delete items) so I changed the password for the calendar username in AD. Then I logged into outlook as that username and gave full permissions for it's calendar to her. The problem is, now as far as I can tell nobody can do anything on the calendar. You try and create an appt. and it says "Object could not be found". Why would that happen just because of a password change and how do I fix it?

Object Not Found" sounds like there was a security or permissions settings change for the FOLDER where the shared calendar is located. I would check the folder security settings and permissions, to make sure that everyone else has rights to access the folder. Maybe the settings were changed on a folder closer to the root and they don't have access anymore.

Good suggestion but even after changing the permissions to the entire mailbox itself that the calendar is a part of I had the same issue.

So then I went into the settings for my mailbox and unchecked the box for use cached mode. Now I can create and delete items on the shared calendar.... but is it a good thing to leave the cached mode box unchecked?

We haven't had a problem with turning cached mode off. As a matter of fact, in my opinion, it tends to solve other issues as well, since there are less points of failure in access. As long as your connection and computers are good enough to run non-cached without a big performance hit, I recommend it. Notebooks would be the only potential issue, since they tend to connect wireless now and people can sometimes launch Outlook without being connected to the server. Even in those situations, as long as you maintain a good backup solution for Exchange [just in case :)], it should be fine.

ok.... after i then switch back to cached mode it seems fine. very odd.

hmmmmm... actually when i go back to cached mode it stopped working.

Not sure where it's kept but perhaps the user rights to the folder where the CACHE is located is not proper. Or maybe the cached copy is just plain broke. I never worked with trying to fix the cache. You could try running a REPAIR within Outlook and see if that clears it up.

Of course, your boss knows that this was your fault :)

Haha... well, I have a temporary fix by having our administrative assistant uncheck the cached mode box in her outlook (she does most of the calendar scheduling). But I still need to figure out a long term solution.
