Outlook 2007 on WinXP Pro, new mail does not come in, have to click on a folder for new mail to appear in the inbox.

Weird issue, only occurs with one user on this machine. Logged in as me and problem not there.

Moved the users profile, created a new one and setup Oulook again, same problem.

New PC too, new install of Outlook 2007, but was told it was removed and reinstalled to try and fix issue originally.

All Office Updates are loaded. Any ideas, anyone ever have this happen before?

When you say you moved the user's profile, meaning their entire Windows profile, or just their Outlook profile?

How much data is in their PST?

Matt

Please always take the time to backup important data and verify that backup, before making any changes suggested.

Thanks for the reply Pat. I checked out that link. Seems to be the issue I'm having, but it's only with one client machine when a particular user is logged in. And we don't run ISA server, the fix shown can only be done on the ISA server. I'll check the Windows Firewall and see if there's any other firewall programs on the PC.

I used to come across this all the time. Happened to me on Win2k, XP (sp1 and 2), Outlook 2k, XP and 2k3.

was never able to figure it out :-( Seemed I would only get updates from the exchange server if i initiated the communication, rather than it being pushed through. I thought it was my laptop at first, but then a colleague also started experiencing it. Only thing we ever noticed was that we were experiencing the issue on IBM thinkpads - but not on our desktops. Sounds daft, I know. Blank installs and everything - still the same. With or without PST files configured.

Would love to find out the answer :)

The new mail notification is a UDP packet. Make sure those are not being blocked at the firewall/gateway/router.
