Hi,

My user encountered a problem whereby Outlook hangs when he clicked on the To: (under New Mail). It also hangs when he tried to access the Address Book. However, there is no issues if he access the Contacts Tab instead. I suspect that there is some problems with the Address Book. Is there an easy way to fix this problem? We use a centralized Contacts book on the IMail Server.

I also see multiple different copies of contacts under the Contacts Tab. The user mentioned that a new copy will be created when he created a new pst file. Is these 2 issues related?

Hello Jensenaw,
I work for Imail tech support and I happened to see your post. What version of Imail are you using? Also, can you check the size of the workgroupshare.mdb file? By default this is in /program files/ipswitch/workgroupshare but could be somewhere else if you are using custom paths.

Hi,

My version of Imail is Server 2006. The size of the workgroupshare.mdb file is 669MB.

Hi,
First thing to try is to compact and repair the database. Follow the directions here and let me know if it helps:

Hi,

I have fixed this particular problem of mine. I have deleted those existing Address book entries, leaving those required left. Now, the user can access the address book without Outlook hanging.

However, this brings to another problem of mine. I realise the workgroupshare file does not synchronize well. I have users running on different versions of Outlook (2000, 2003, 2007). Those users running on Outlook 2000 have the most problems. They do not see new entries or deleted items. I have done the repair and compact as suggested above but still no luck.

Can you help, please?
