I am using outlook 2003 with Word 2003 as an editor. After a few hours of use, there is a 45 sec delay when open email or create a new one. If I closed outlook and reopen it, it works fine for a few hours. I had already rebuilt the PC and the problem remains. There is no spyware or virus.

Thanks
Kwok

Do you still get the delay if you do not use Word as the editor?

[cheers] & all the best.

No.. only with Word as an editor. It is very important for me to have this feature.

Thanks

You could try adding more RAM & increasing your Virtual Memory, but the simplest & cheapest way is to continue re-starting Outlook every hour or so. It should only take a few seconds.

[cheers] & all the best.

The computer already has 1gb of ram. I know about the restarting outlook as a temporary solutions. Is that the only solution? I know others who is using word as the editor, but are not having any problem. They even has less ram.

Are you running any other programs? It sounds like you have a "leaky application". Try doing a search for memory leak.

[cheers] & all the best.

It sounds like another program is being run when you open word - I know with office 2003 there is a lot more integration from anti-virus software - Do you have any AV running?

Yes.. Norton Antivirus (Enterprise)

Please keep in mind that the pc was working fine (w/ Norton).

Thanks
Kwok
