Hello,

I searched this forum as suggested before posting this message, but did not find a similar posting.

I can recieve POP email fine in Outlook 2003, but when I try to send mail, it sits in the Outbox for minutes, hours before it finally leaves the mailbox. It is not consistent in the delay and is very frustrating when you want to respond to a mail right away.

I recently moved my PST file which worked fine in my old computer to this new one. I may not have followed all the corrrect steps which I should have.

I have created new profiles, new PST files etc, but nothing seems to have helped fix the problem.

Any help and suggestions are welcomed. I have searched up and down the web but cannot seem to find a solution that would work.

TIA

Are you stand alone or on an exchange server?

Hi rvnguy,

Thank you for your reply.

I am a standalone Outlook 2003 user, trying to connect to POP email provided by my ISP.

I did not have any delays when I was using this PST in my old PC, but a lot of delay when I migrated to the new PC.

I have tried to create a new profile, created a new PST to test etc. but nothing seems to have helped.

Thanks,

Velani

I have a 'test account settings' button in the tools>e-mail accounts wizard. this checks that both out and in settings are set correctly. They can be very finicky, so you might want to triple check what they are supposed to be. It seems that you have the out going functioning, so try not to change these.

I have no problems with incoming mail. Only with out going mail, which is having such large delays leaving the outbox.

I tested the test account settings button and that is also having a problem with the receiving part.

I have tried to fix Office 2003 installation, but that has not helped.

Still trying.

Are these just long delays that complete eventually or do they time out with a failure?

Most of them now are failing. Initially, there were long delays of 5-60 minutes. Now no mail is going out but I can receive fine.

I deinstalled Office 2003 and reinstalled to no luck.

Thanks,

Velani

Anyone have any other suggestions or solutions? I was under the impression this topic may have been covered in the past.

Willing to try anything to be able to send mail right away. I have one stuck in the outbox for the past 2 hours.

TIA

Create a new profile in Outlook and see if the problem goes away. You can do this in the MAIL section of the Control Panel.

Hi 58sniper,

I tried that. I created new profile, used a blank PST, used new profile with old PST, used old profile with new PST etc. I even removed Office 2003 fromt he computer, reinstalled it. No luck so far.

I even called my ISP to see if there was any changes to configurations: there are none.

Oh, how frustrating it is.

I am hoping for a miracle solution.

Thanks for suggesting.
