Hi,

I've just bought a new laptop running Win XP and Office 2003. I've connected this to our network and have registered the computer on the domain.

When ever I try to open Outlook it displays a box saying Migrating, Then a message appears saying that outlook must be online or connected. I have checked all connection settings which seem to be fine.

I've looked at all the settings I can and can't find any reason for this. Could some body help??

Have you checked the server name? How many Exchange Servers do you have in your domain?

Only the one Exchange server. I've checked the name of it and have confirmed the settings on a different computer and that one works.

Is outlook set to run in cached mode ? Im not sure if this will affect it or not, but it is worth a try

Mailbox properties, advanced, advanced tab, cached mode tickbox

It was, so I changed it and still getting the same result

Does ipconfig /all produce the results you would expect to see ? correct IP, DNS etc ?

An ipconfig gives all the correct info, I can ping and telnet to the exchange.

Try blowing away the users profile(after backing up needed items) and recreate the profile. MAPI setting may be corrupted.

Does the account you are using to set up the outlook have administrative rights on the laptop ?
