hiya,

does anyome know how we can get Outlook 2003 to automatically start with the users credentials (i.e. Exchange Server and Username/Mailbox) so that it's ready to go without any user intervention once they click on the Outlook icon?

half our call outs for new users are when they log on and open Outlook for the first time and they have to enter their mail details.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,

You need the Office Resource Kit. We have just used (successfully) to do exactly what you are asking, a no-user-intervention setup of Outlook on first run. User logs in, starts Outlook, gets auto configured, they are reading mails in no time. (On an Exchange system with Outlook 2003 clients)

thanks aich69,

we have downloaded it now and are just ghosting our client before we install and try it.

do you know if you can use it on clients already installed with Office 2K3 or does it apply to new users (not computers) or what? i'm googling it now but not getting much info back.

i'll let you know how we get on but thanks anyhow for your speedy reply.

I believe you can use it for 'after install administration' too but I really didn't look into this in great detail due to the time constraints on our project.

Sorry I can't be of more help with that area.
Hope it works as well for you as it did here.

hi again,

we have the ORK running but it looks exactly the same as the Group Policy settings in AD.

we are using the ADM files in Office 2K3 but cannot find where to enter the Exchange Server and Username / Mailbox settings.

any ideas?!
