Hello all,

I have a few users that are getting the following error 0x8004210A with outlook 2003. I have done much research on the error. I have done all that has been suggested, for instance. Un-check scan incoming mail and out going mail from Norton, change the MTU size, unregistered Inetcomm.dll, and increase the time out of the SMTP server.

None of these so called fixes fixed anything.

I am sure that somebody has fixed this issue and would LOVE to share the fix.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi Adrian,

I have just managed to fix this exact problem with Outlook.. although after googling many different sites, it appears that error 0x8004210A covers a multitude of sins.

Anyways, the fix for me was that the user in question had an account setup in the registry that was different to what was setup via Outlook mail.

(using regedit can seriously damage your health, etc.. etc..)

Open Regedit..

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\OMI Account Manager\Accounts

You might find a "00000001" key containing the pop/smtp/etc account information.

Rename the 00000001 key to 00000001.old or something, then start Outlook.

If that key doesn't exist, then I guess this isn't the answer to your problem.. worth a go though! :)

cheers,
grayp

Thanks grayp. I tried doing the fix that you suggested but i do not have any key containing pop/smtp/etc the only thing under that key is Default which is nothing.
