hello,

I'm having a problem with a new Outlook & Word 2002 install that I'm seeking help with. I have some VB 6 code that I run daily that

used to be on a different PC and now is having an issue with Outlook 2002 on a new pc.
The code at one point in it's execution launches a new mail window in Outlook, fills out the to:

subject: and body: text to some desired defaults then sends the e-mail. During this composition process I can see all the

fields and body text filled out correctly, and it's in HTML format. And when I receive the sent e-mail on the old pc (I've been sending it to myself lately while dealing with this problem) it's in html format and the body text is there. Where the problem is occuring is when you open outlook on the new pc, look at the e-mail in Sent Items, the e-mail opens as Plain Text? and there's no body text??
This auto-sending process has worked fine on the old pc (running xp pro and outlook 2002), and when I open old auto-composed e-mails on that pc they open as HTML e-mail and the body text is there., now on the new pc (also running xp pro and outlook 2002), I'm having this blank body, plain text e-mail issue.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it? Why would the e-mail be opening as Plain Text when it was composed as HTML?

thanks in advance,
david

hi
did you manage to resolve this issue?

I have a similar problem where my automated HTML emails are displayed as Plain Text. This happens on many of my email clients, 2002 XP, 2003 and 2007. My 2002 XP outlook on my desktop PC displays it OK.

Crazy!!!!

Stella

Hi

I resolved my problem so this may help you.

I have an Exchange 5.5 Server, Outlook 2002/XP clients and my VB.NET application for automated email generation in HTML format.

My problem was that emails sent out of the exchange server to remote users are sent as plain text but emails sent to the local Outlook clients are displayed as HTML.

The fault was on the Exchange server Internet Message Service. There is a setting which allows Exchange to convert emails to Rich Text overriding the format specified by the client.

I applied a a post sp4 hot fix and added a registry setting which allowed the sending in the clients original format.

Outlook clients are not effected by the problem because they don't connect to exchange via SMTP.

Stella,
hello, yes I resoved this "blank e-mails" issue. I had to apply the latest service packs to Outlook 2002, then the problem went away.
thanks,
david
