I have a question about creating a rule in Outlook 2002.
I have used the wizard to create a rule which automatically permanently deletes messages as soon as I receive them.
However, I also want to set up a rule that will automatically delete specific messages permanently (not send them to my delete folder) after I have read them.

For example:
1) message with subject 'abc123' goes to my inbox
2) I read message 'abc123'
3) I delete message 'abc123'
--> I want this to be permanently deleted and not go to my delete folder. Is there a rules I can setup to do this.

I couldnt find how to do this in the rules wizard.
I think I could do this if I could apply the rules wizard to the delete folder. However, from the drop down box, only my Inbox is able to be applied to the rules wizard.

Anyone have any ideas as to if this can be done. Thanks!
Tim

I might be trying to make this to simple or am missing the point of your question(!) but if you hold down the shift key and then press the delete key, the message will be permanently deleted

Davezsmith, you just gave me a good enough answer! I didnt know you could do that. Thanks. That basically takes care of what I was needing.
Out of curiousity, if anyone knows how to apply rules to the delete folder, I would be interested.
Thanks,
Tim

You can apply rules to any folder, but they will need to be run manually. Make your rule, pick 'run now', pick the folder to run it on.
