Outlook 2002 hangs when opening email with attachments

My Outlook program has started to hang whe I attempt to open an email with any kind of attachement. After I resart Outlook and/or reboot the computer the same thing happens. I have resinstalled the program. I have run the Inbox Repair Tool several times with no errors in the pst file reported. Does anyone have any insight to this problem?

You need to install an update from Microsoft.

Download the file oxpauiu.exe from

http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2002/oxpauiu.aspx

when you run the file you will need to have your office xp disk so have it ready. Once your finished restart the computer and you sholud be all set.

Thanks for the help. I failed to mention that I am running Windows XP. In the text of the link you included it says "IMPORTANT: If you are running Windows®XP, you do not need this update".
What do you think? Do you think I am risking problems if I run the update anyway? Are there other solutions to the problem?

This is the only solution I could find. I guess at this point you dont have much to lose. I would try it if I were in your shoes but that decision is up to you. Chuck

Well, I ran the XP upgrade and it had no effect. I unistalled the entire Office suite and reinstalled it into a new directory and that had no effect. The only solution I could come up with was to install Outlook 2000 and then install the Office XP suite without Outlook 2002. That seems to work (at least for now).

I had the same problem. Repairing the Office XP installation seemed to do the trick. Go to Control Panel/Add Remove Programs. Find Microsoft Office XP on the list and click on it. Press the Change button. The setup window will give you 3 options. The second option is Repair Office. Choose this option. Once the repair is completed, reboot your computer. Good luck.
