I am migrating from Office 2000 to Office XP. My client OS is Windows NT 4.0 my Email Server is Exhange 5.5 sp4. I have created an administrative installation on a network share, and created a .mst transform file using the Custom Installation Wizard in the Resource Kit. I haven't strayed far from the office defaults. As far as Outlook goes, I am having it modify the user profile to connect to the appropriate email server. Here is my issue:
I log in as my test user, (first log in, NT creats a new local profile). I open outlook, and it modifies the user profile and connects me to my exchange server. I see it open, and I see email in my inbox. Then outlook hangs for about 2 minutes,(it doesn't respond to any input, but shows as "running" in task manager.) and then works normally. After this initial "hang" I can close outlook and re-open it and it works fine, but if I log off the machine and re-log on, the issue re-occurs. I don't have to end task the process, it will eventually respond normally, but this is un-acceptable behavior for going into production. Any Ideas???
