My Outlook 2000 no more works. Only the opening screen with the name "MS Outlook" appears, then stay there stucked. My antivirus Norton 2000 didn't find nothing wrong. All other programs of Office 2000 are O.K. I reinstalled it from the MS Office 2000 CD, the problem is still there. Please, can one help?

When was the last time you updated your virus definitions? They may not be current with the newer viruses. Connect to the internet, go into your Norton 2000 and click on the live update button, then make sure it shows INTERNET in the first option, then follow the instructions, usually click NEXT or OK. The definitions will automatically download and update and will want you to restart for it to finish the update.

Hope this helps. ggebhart@clover.net
I hope I never get too old or arrogant to learn something new!

Does this occur when the Norton is shut off?
Have you tried closing all running apps then opening the outlook? worth a shot if you haven't.

You may also want to see if there is another copy of Outlook.exe running on your system. I have seen cases where only one instance is visible, but there is another instance running under Task Manager. This could be eating up system resources and causing problems with your visible version.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem on a brand new sony laptop... We think it may have something to do with a bad pst file we tried to import, but now we can't get the program to start for love nor money. Virus runs clean, there is nothing else running on the laptop at the same time.. It is most frustrating!
