When I reply to a "rich text" (as opposed to plain text) email in Outlook 2000, my reply email defaults to rich text. This is so annoying when you try to attach files or when your text takes on the style of the text you're replying to! How do I modify Outlook 2000 so that it *always* defaults to plain text format when I reply to emails?

Thanks,
Gnet

I think I understand what you're asking and I hope one of the two answers below will help.

Click TOOLS on the menubar
Click OPTIONS
Click the MAIL FORMAT tab in the dialog box that appears
Click the down-arrow in the SEND IN THIS MESSAGE FORMAT box
Choose PLAIN TEXT

Also, you can simply change the default font settings used for replied and forwarded messages by going to:

TOOLS on the menubar
Click OPTIONS
Click the MAIL FORMAT tab
Click the FONTS button
Click the CHOOSE FONT button to the right of "When replying and forwarding:"
Whatever choices you make here will be what is seen when you reply or forward an email.

thank you for the reply. i found out that my outlook was already set to send in plain text format; however, when i followed your second suggestion and also selected "use my font when replying and forwarding messages" under the "stationery fonts" section, my reply emails are now always in the font i specified (new courier). attachments are also in their own pane at the bottom, so this seems to have fixed all my problems :).
