We are having a problem on some PCs when installing new software where Outlook is already installed. After installing new software, user can no longer access Outlook via profile. We resolve this by deleting old profile and recreating it.

This happened today on a PC where Winzip had been installed - Outlook profile had to be deleted and recreated afterwards.

Any ideas?

Thanks

John.

I don't see how an installation of Winzip would affect Outlook in any way.

What kind of message does the user get? Is it a problem seeing the Exchange server or something else? joegz

The problem manifests itself when the user tries to log onto Outlook and is unable to see any of their personal folders. The solution is to delete the users profile and recreate it again, then the user is able to log on and see everything OK.

It's not only Winzip that this has happened with - our Service Desk reports that ActiveSync (For hand-held synchronisation) was installed then got the same problem and I understand that Service Desk have had many calls from users who have been unable to access Outlook after having s/w installed.
