All of a sudden I have an outlook 2000 user who says she gets the "you have new mail" message box and the new mail icon in the corner of her screen even though no new e-mail has arrived. She has no junk mail filtering so everything should be going straight to her inbox. This just started a week ago. I made no changes to our exchange server. Any thoughts?

Check her rules. Make sure there isn't one to move specific emails to a different folder upon receipt or to delete specific emails upon receipt.

I had it happen to one of my users once. He swore that he hadn't set up any rules. It turned out he had been "exploring" the rules wizard and "accidentally" set up a rule.

Cheers.

I had a similar thing happening when I turned tracking on. It would beep, an envelope would arrive, but the "Message delivered" message would already have been moved to my deleted messages folder.
