Outlook 2000 - hangs when first started

Using outlook 2000 on Win 98 with Exchange -

It hangs on the splash screen when first started. The process must be ended. It will then open quickly without any problems. If I close it and reopen it hangs again. This cycle repeats itself...

Any ideas on what the problem is?

It just started - nothing has been changed that I know of on that machine.
