If my PC has been running for an hour or more--especially if for longer, Outlook 2000 will suddenly refuse to send/receive, saying it can't find the SMTP server, or that a protocol is wrong. If I do a complete reboot then it sends/receives--until the next time, an hour later.
Closing the program and re-opening isn't sufficient to remedy.
I am using a cable modem hook-up and have determined that there is no problem on the server end when these episodes occur.
Thanks in advance.

Is your internet connection still live after this has happened, does you ISP time you out after a set time?

Yes--the connection is in tact, I can surf freely, etc.

Oh--sorry about that...I only answered half the question. I'm on a live cable modem connection--and so am always on-line, never times out--no dial up, etc.
