hi,
I'm trying to re-create a company logo (they don't have a soft copy I can use, just a ruddy great sign out the front of their place which I have a photo of)
The problem being, that the logo is gold text with a black boarder/ outline, and for the life of me, I can't get a black boarder around text without it looking pixilated and terrible, I've even tried importing from freehand using the Inline text thingie, but it still doesn't look right.
Does anyone know of a plugin, addon, other programme, or anything I can use to get the text with it's nice clean 1px black outline?
thanks.

If we are talking about text you are writting in Fireworks then type up the text and setup all the spaces, sizes and values for the properties of the text. Once you are happy with what you have, right click on it and go to "Convert to Paths". You may want to copy/paste a new copy and work on it.
Once you convert to paths select the text again and go to top menu "modify"->"Combine Paths" -->"Join". What you have now is a regular Path that you can apply any border you like with any width you like.

If what you have is the image of text I suggest you either do a trace to vectorize it or try to recreate the whole thing from scratch. It is going to be a bit more work but in the long run it will be a blessing, specially if you take things to print.

good luck

I'm sorry DaRNCat, I was doing a follow up on a post there and saw the name "|DaRNCaT|" and thought it was you....

The easy way is just add effect glow and alter the settings....lol paths, no point in doing all that work!

PhilGDUK, sorry, I'd tried that (obviously it was my first thought), and frankly, it looked like crap, using paths was exactaly what was required.
Creating a path from text isn't alot of work, and the results are crisp, clear and resizeable.
