So, I have an image in photoshop, passed to me by my sister that I need to use for a background in Dreamweaver.

But, the picture has that black outline on it. So when you make it a background, the black outline looks completely tacky.

I'm a new user to photoshop and have no idea how to get rid of it.

Any help would stop me from pulling all hair out of my head!

Thanks a million

you say "But, the picture has that black outline on it"

Can you describe this a bit more?
Where did the picture originate, was it a photo or is it photoshop generated?

Describe the "black outline" and what would like to do with it?

What do you wish to replace the black line with or can the black line simply be cropped from tour original?

In Photoshop, when you choose new, you get the transparent box (I think it's transparent). The picture I have, was created in photoshop or Image ready (not sure). So that black outline is either from another layer? Or the transparent image it started from. No matter what I do, Crop, change size (I've tried all the things I know how to do) That black outline is still there. It's very thin, but as a background, it of course enlarges making it very clear that it's there. I wish I could describe it better but without you seeing it, it's hard to do.

Is it a picture you can post somewhere?

What's type file is it now, e.g. .psd, .jpg etc?
Do you have photoshop?

There is for sure a way to fix your problem but I need to understand the problem myself.

Okay, what I did was posted it as a background and then, put the jpeg image on top of it...you should be able to see the jpeg. THe background is what I really want you to see. The black line on the right you know what...lol

I think I know what the problem is, but lookey see anyway. I think, when I make it a background, it's tileing it so your seeing the left side of the image ont he right side..lol

If you know how to fix this, It'd be much appreciated..lol

I'm using my other site as a test spot :)

Okay, nevermind, it's not doing that...the black line is going all the way down.

I saved the only picture I could find there, sample.jpg thats simply a grayscale textured rectangle with a gradient fill from top left (darkest) to bottom right (lightest) and NO black outline.

I do however see a thick black verticle line on the right side of your web page
