Outgoing e-mails go through the motions and appear in my "sent" folder but are not received by the addressee. This occurs with both Outlook Express and Eudora and on more than one account. Firewall on or off makes no difference. Outbox is empty. Incoming e-mails are okay. Service packs are installed through SP3. Other computer on the network can send e-mails with no problem. I'm logged on as administrator.

Have you got the correct address? Sometimes emails will be retried again and again for 3 days before being returned as undeliverable. Try emailing your hotmail account.

Thanks for the come-back. This has been occurring since I installed Windows 2000. I just discovered that a whole week's worth of outgoing e-mails to many familiar addresses have not been received.

The problem was ultimately solved by removing and reinstalling Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

Start>Settings>Network and Dialup Connections>Local Area Connections>properties>Select Internet Protocol>Uninstall. Restart

Go back to properties>install>Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Restart.
