Outgoing E-Mail Settings -> Advanced Settings ?

Hi,

After googling for a while unsuccessfully among forum & documentation I post this new thread here:

How can I configure my Outgoing E-Mail Settings to specify a different SMTP port, SSL connection and authentification?

I did not find any advanced setting tab to configure that in SharePoint Central Administration. I should have miss something somewhere since it looks obvious to me that it should be possible to configure this.

Is this for wss 2.0 or 3.0?

it is for wss 3.0

I see 2 places on my wss... in operations and applications but don't see any advance for port setting either. Have you tried the SMTP server address and port number, i.e. x.x.x.x:625?

It does not work. you get the following error:
"The specified Outbound SMTP Server address is not valid. "

And I need an SSL connection as well...

Any idea?

Hmm... I don't know. The other idea is to port forward on the SMTP side. So just enter the smtp on the sharepoint side since and on the other end, forward anything coming to port 25 to another port you want to use for smtp....
