Hi, all -

We've recently upgraded our Parter Mail from a 1.4 standalone box to a 3.0. Both systems were 4-port systems, and I simply dropped in the new box in using all the same connections.

I have been able to setup all extensions, voicemail, and our day and night menus without problems. The only problem I'm having is with outcalling.

I have outcalling enabled system-wide. I have checked to make sure my users have properly entered all their outcalling information, but the system just won't call out. Is there a step somewhere I could've missed?

What is your dialing string on outcalling?? Does it start with a "9"?? Example: 918005551212.

Everyone has added a "9*" to the beginning of their outcalling numbers.

I think it might be possible that the outcalling isn't grabbing a line to the outside.

I've put the 4 ports for the voicemail into the proper extensions in hunt group 7, but do I need to go into #301 and give the extensions line assignments? We have two lines to the outside that are both in pool mode. Does partner mail know what to do with pooled lines?

The ports need line or pool assignments to be able to outcall.

Since you have external voice mail, simply plug a system phone into the station port and see if you can get an outside line. Note that when you go off-hook, it will be on the Intercom, but sound like outside dialtone. Then dial 9 and see what you get.

Thanks, Tommy! By plugging the phone in, I could see that the first 9 dialed transferred me to the pool, but then I still needed another 9 once in the pool to reach an outside line.

You saved my sanity!
