I have a G3i R9.5 with a PRI from AT&T. We would like to continue to send our main number out for outbound calls and restrict the name of our company to "unavailable" or "unknown" or something similar. It has to do with multiple business units.

I can change the outbound number via "change isdn pub" but I think the name comes from a national database that looks up and delivers the name to the called party. Correct ?

AT&T thinks the PBX can override the name setting like I can override the number setting. I'm not sure.

Can anyone clear this up ?

I know that I had to have my carrier set the name for me... I tried to change it via trunk group page 3, send calling anme and # settings, but it never worked. In the end, I had to place an order with my T-1 vendor to send the name on all calls..... I don't know but you may be able to use per cpn blocking (in feature access codes), or block the name on the trunk group form...

Per CPN blocking might work. Darn it, I should have remembered to try that !
Thanks !

I know that Asterisk has the ability to "spoof" outbound callerID, but I don't know if Avaya/Definity does.

However... If you do bill collecting by contract or in-house, you may want to watch spoofing your callerID and/ marking it as "unknown".. U may wish to check w/ your legal department.

Good luck.

I have a similiar situation where multiple business units share the same PBX (Avaya S8720). I wasn't successful changing the name within the PBX. Your local carrier controls this via the listed directory name field in their database. I had to place an order to have the listed diretory name changed. This is the name that is displayed when the LEC received your digits.
