We have Exchange 2003 on a windows 2003 DC.Our domain name is xx.org.et and email addresses like @zz.org. There are contacts whose email address is also @zz.org but don't have mailbox on the server. their mailbox is outside our domain.
The problem comes when we send mail to the contacts rebounces back.

Recently We changed domain name from zz.org to xx.org.et but maintained the same email address for the time being.

How can we make diffrent connector to send to these contacts ?

Thanks

Why you worry? Life is too short to worry.

As you have the zz.org domain hosted locally the Exchange server will assume that teh mail must be delivered to the local store and if it does not exist then it will send an NDR.

The only way round this is to setup mailboxes for these user accounts with the correct e-mail addresses and then set them to auto-forward all mail to another external (non zz.org) address, or get teh remote users to pick mail up from you for these mailboxes using POP3 / VPN & MAPI etc.

Sorry - but i don't think there is any other way roud this.

Thanks, But the zz.org domain is not hosted locally. the locally hosted domain is xx.org.et, however all contacts and mailboxes have e-mail address as @zz.org. contacts having addresses as @zz.org don't receive.

If the @zz.org address is in your recipient policy, you'll get this problem. I've heard that specifying an outside mail server in the FORWARD ALL MAIL WITH UNRESOLVED RECIPIENTS TO HOST on the MESSAGES tab of the Default SMTP Virtual Server will work, but I've never tested it. YMMV
