Our caller ID is showing up as unlisted to some people when we make an outside call (we are presenting only one number. According to the technician I've spoken with, we are not sending out an " E.164 stamp " on the information we're presenting.

According to him, some of the switches out there will not forward the call info if it does not conform to this E.164 standard. I've been plowing through all of the various settings for the system, but I can't seem to find anything regarding this.

Any help would be appreciated.

To clarify:

When I call my cel phone, I see all of my caller ID info just fine.

When I call someone who is using this "Privacy Director" service from BellSouth, it says my call is unidentified.

The PRI provider says that it has something to do with us not tagging the info as E.164, so some switches will ignore it.

It sounds simillar to this problem:
But when I tried using SI in the shortcode for controlling outbound caller ID as opposed to just S, I would only get a busy signal any time I tried to call out.

If you are using shortcodes with the S character to send out your CallerID, try changing them to Si. Changes the call type indicator required by some providers.

The other method is to add the i to incoming numbers in your incoming call routes.

I just did that and was coming to report:

I used a capital "I" earlier. By using a lower case "i", that corrected the problem.

so using siXXXXXXXXXX worked.

This may be the fix for my question...where do i enter the "si" string mentioned here?

Typically when people have trouble sending caller ID, the suggested fix is:

SC: [9]N;
TN: Nsi412333e
Feature: Dial

That sets the call type to a format more telco's can understand, and the "e" is the extension that dialed the number. Or you can put in the main number if you don't want individual caller ID.

I did this, and it worked..almost. The problem I'm having now is that people calling from an outside number and dialing an extension that forwards out to a cell is showing up as (555) 555 - 5 (it leaves the 3 digit extension).

Use a "E" instead of a lower case e. That was my mistake..
