Oulook Doesn't Archive Anything

Hi,

I have a user on a laptop running Win2k Pro SP3 and Office 2000 Pro with all current updates applied. When attempting to archive his inbox, the archive parameters (date, file location of PST and what to archive etc) are set and are valid but all Outlook puts in the PST file is the deleted Items. It does not archive anything else. AutoArchive has been disabled but it still does nothing.

Permissions allow the user to write to the location of the PST file.

Does anyone have any idea what I should do?

2 suggestions,
1/ Are you sure you havnt just set the Archive parameters for the Deleted Items folder? (They have all got to be setup individually)
2/ There is a mail folder set up in your pst file eg File>New>Folder (Set for Mail items)?

FAM,

1/ Yes, the folder "Inbox" is selected in the windows where you set up dates and file locations.

2/ I am attempting this the same way I archive my email and it works OK on my PC and everyone else's in the company. As far as I know, the pst file is created when you click OK in the Archive Window but if you knwo otherwise I'm happy to check.

I think im not being very clear, have you got a Inbox (or mail folder) setup in you archive pst file?
Also, in your Global configuration e.g. Tools>Options>Other>AutoArchive is these settings ok?

Hi Fam,

Yes there is an Inbox set up in the PST file and Auto Archive has been disabled by me, ie. all archiving is done manually.

Hi Fam,

I found out that Oulook was using the Date Modified and not the Dat Sent or Received. All is fine now.
