Hi Folks,

IPO rls 8.0 on analog trunks.
If you dial out quickly, dialing 9 first, call goes through and shows all 7 (local 7 digit dialing)digits on phone display and in System Status tool.
If you dial out slowly, dialing 9 then waiting for 2nd dial tone, only about 4 digits show on display and in System Status tool.
The dial delay timer in ARS: 509 Main had been changed from 4 seconds to 1, so we put that back to default. Still occurred.

Also noticed Await dial tone timer (under lines) was changed from 3000ms to 1000ms. Did not try changing that back yet, as did not want to reboot in middle of day.
Did notice that unchecking second dial tone box in ARS 50Main seemd to fix issue, although likely not the onloy or proper fix. Could the tone of the 2nd dial tone interfere with the tones of digits entered?

Anyone seen this before, or can confirm if the await dial tone timer is the culprit?

Does your ARS 50 have ; in the short codes? If so, remove it. That is used for a PRI telling the system to wait before sending all digits out at the same time. With POTS, you can send them as you dial them.

Is your dial delay count (not timer) set to 4? When set to 4 it starts matching shortcodes and so dials to line after 4 digits, as analogue lines are seen at connected once seized the system stops displaying digits dialled after the call connects, this is so digits dialled to auto attendants/menus etc are not displayed in your redial/call log list :)

Thanks to both for the quick replies and help!

Yes, the default ; is in there. We can try removing it, but I don't think that the default entries (ending in N;) are being used now anyway, as we added a couple of new ones, in order to have a match sooner, as we are only 7 digit local. In my experienece the system seems to dial out much slower in 7 digit areas, than 10 digit areas, as it waits to see if you finished dialing.
We added these two entries to ARS 50Main:

XXXXXXX dial 31K N 0
1XXXXXXXXXX dial 31K N 0

We added these, especially the 7 Xs, so it would match a 7 digit local quicker. I would think these 2 entries would now be selected before the default ones, being more specific. Previously, someone had tried "speeding up" the time to dial out by reducing dial delay and await dial tone timers, and it resulted in slow dialers being frustrated. I thought the above approach might be better, and I shoudk mention the problem existed before these two entries.
If you see flaws in this approach, please let me know what you think!

I was not on site but the the tech on site confirmed that the dial delay count is still at default 0.
I would also think that if it had been changed to 4 in error, that then it would not matter if the person dialed slow or fast.

Thanks again ,and appreciate any other help or ideas.

those last two entries should solve your problem, we never use the default ARS, we spell it out as you have done

Thanks Joe- that leads me to believe that the fact that the await dial tone timer is low (300ms) is leading the system to sieze a trunk too quickly, and stop taking digits, if you don't dial fast enough.
I would like to change this and reboot to see if that fixes it. But, the customer is OK with current fix of no second dial tone, and do not want to reboot now.

I still would add the 2nd dial tone back as that can confuse some people as well as the default 4 second timer
