We just got OTM and have it hooked into our 81 PII (Succession 3.0) over ethernet.

We're populating the OTM database but the download over ethernet is painfully slow.. like 1200 baud slow.

We have a VT220 terminal hooked up to a tty on the PBX but tried disabling it - didn't help.

Any other ideas why the transfer would be so slow over ethernet?

Is this a staight through cable? or is this going through some network devices? Are you running a client or this coming directly from the server?

We had a similar issue when we upgraded to OTM 2.2.
Importing the data from the switches was taking ages.
It turned out to be the anti-spyware software that had been installed on the server - disabled that + the data came in tons faster!

Dave.

This is going across a corporate network (which is by no means slow.)

And we're running OTM in server mode (we have no client software installed.)

Are you running the download from a client pc or the server itself. On our network, otm is slower from the client, something to do with the mapped drive.

From the server. We have no clients.

No firewall/spyware software as mentioned by derbydave either.

Is the OTM server connected to the elnk directly?

Make sure no other programs are rnning. No clue other than that. If you ping the switch is the reply within acceptable levels?

Just a clarification, and probably off the mark -- The Station Admin Retrieval is a two-step process. First it retrieves the raw information, then it parses that raw information and populates the database.
Is it possible that you are watching the parsing/population process and thinking that it's slow? I have talked with folks before that confused the two processes and thought that the connection speed was slow.
One way to check to see if the ethernet connection is slow is to establish an overlay passthru session and then list out all TN's (via ld 20). On a normal system, the printout should fly thru the screen (Much faster than a 1200 bps connection).
