Why does OTM need RAS-service to be present during setup ?
We will connect to all of our PBX's using our LAN/WAN so for us there is no need for this RAS-service.
In secure environments it is very hard to convince system engineers to install this service even if it is not used afterwards.
Why can't the setup program be customized to skip the check on the RAS-service ?

Hi,

Does OTM ask for the RAS Service???? Only MAT asks for RAS.

I've installed I don't know how many OTM systems and I have never had the question to install RAS... What version of OTM are you installing?

If Bill Gates had a nickel for every time Windows crashed... Oh wait, he does...

One234,

In the OTM2.1 installation manual (553-3001-230 page 32),
RAS is listed as "required" for the server as well as the client. The same manual mentions that the setup program checks if RAS is installed.

RAS (RRAS) comes with Windows 2000 server automatically, just not configured or activated. I have heard that the OTM uses some of that component for accessing certain information on the PBX, even though RAS may not actually be configured to work for remote dial-in. When Mat or OTM was installed on NT 4.0, you had to install RAS, as it did not come automatically installed. Still, you didn't have to configure it. You also need at least a default printer, for OTM and for Symposium Web Client.
The things that make you say,"hmmm...
