I have OTM 1.2 in a network configuration with 7 clients managing 30+ sites. All clients as well as the server are running Win 2000 SP3 (the server is Win 2000 server). We are experiencing all kinds of problems, too many to list. Our support vendor states that cause we are running Win 2000 with service pack 3 they cannot open a trouble ticket with Nortel, and to either go back to SP2 or to upgrade to OTM 2.0. Apparently OTM 1.2 does not support Win2k SP3, however no one can provide the documentation to back this up.

Is this true or am I just being taken for

Hello
A question
Did you while installing OTM get the message ?

"cant find client path"
If so reed on if not throw this away.

Could you try this file on your windows 2000 server where you have the
problem "cannot find client path"

The name of this file is : ikernelupdate.exe

InstallShield patch can be downloaded from:

1 uninstall OTM 1..2

2 Reboot the PC

3 Delete the folder C:\Nortel on the PC

4 run the patch ikernelupdate.exe on your PC

5 Reboot the PC

6 re-install OTM 1.2

Here you have what to doin Win 2000

1. First go to your <Common Files>\InstallShield\engine\6\Intel 32
directory and delete the Intel 32 directory that contains the old
ikernel.exe file. It is typically located under the C:\Program
Files directory.
2. Download the ikernel engine update (single executable) and run
ikernel update installer. This single executable can be saved to
a disk to be installed on other systems without Internet access.
It updates the ikernel engine on your system, and all future
ISPro 6.x installer will now use this updated engine.
Best of luck hafsteinn

In the OTM documents it does give you system software requirements,I have the same problem with win 2k but have yet to lower my service pack level

In the OTM 1.2 guide lines it states Win 2000 with Service pack 2 (dated Dec 2001). It does not state that any service pack higher than 2 is not supported. We have 7 clients, 4 of which cannot be downgraded to service pack 2 (brand new machines with the latest Win 2k) without formatting the drives.

The Nortel release bulliten for OTM 1.2 does state that SP2 is required for Win 2000. The Nortel release bulliten for OTM 2.0 states that it supports Win 2000 with SP3 or SP2 plus rollup hotfix package 18.1.

Nortel only tests their software with the SP that is current at the time of release, so since SP3 didn't exist at the time OTM 1.2 was released it is not supported.

I have seen this problem before with MAT (the predecessor to OTM). I had someone add a SP to a Win NT server that wasn't supported by their version of MAT and it created several problems running the MAT software. I called Nortel but they would not support the user unless the SP was removed or MAT was upgraded. Nortel software seams to be very sensative to any software changes on the server.
