I agree! Dont do it.
TM 3.0 is not ready for use.
We are migrating many users that has difficuties with 3.0 to 3.1. Its not much better i'm affraid.
OTM 2.2 is the better choice, if possible.
In TM 3.0 it's not possible to change a name if the set is monitored or the set is a member of a huntgroup. The stupid TM script is trying to change the name via a change on key 0.
Don't install TM and you are living a lot longer.
I totally agree with the comments above. A number of useful features such as ESN listing have gone at Rlse 3.x. The program has become more web based. I've never been happy with using OTM, but having loaded up 3.0 and not being able to use the station admin feature, quickly made me go back to 2.2.
I just evaluated TM 3.1. It is another foil wrapped t3rd. A nortel regional architect recently told me that the next incarnation will be better. My guess is that the whole TM product will die and nortels ECM and element manager products will take over. OTM is nothing but a bunch of cobbed together 3rd party apps anyway. I use 2.2 right now which is pretty stable.
Sorry to disappoint you but ECM is based off of TM 3.x. Not any better and its a pain to setup the Linux boxes. TM 2.2 is still the best. I hear TM 3.2 will be changing the interface because of all the complaints that have hit the product.
The ESN editor is still there, it's just available at the TM server console instead of through the web app. Basically, TM 3.0 behaves and feels like a half-finished conversion to a web app.
TM3.1 is supposed to be better, (bugfixes,) but you still have to use the windows apps to use the database editor, ESN editor, etc. It's basically an unfinished product.
I totally have to agree with many others.
If you're still on 4.5 use OTM 2.2 instead of 3.0 and 3.1
A alternative for OTM 2.2 is Atiras (from FROX; before named SigmaPlus). This is also a Nortel approved application.
