Other cd roms can't read cd

Hello,

I have a cd-rw included in an HP pavillion computer. I download stuff from the web, store data through this cd-rw and it works fine. Hp pavillion computer can read and retrive data.

However if I take the newly burned cd to any other computers,
the other computers would not even see the cd. The other 4 computers say "insert cd" even if the cd is already inserted.

Any idea is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I use adaptec Easy CD creator as software that was included in the Hp Pavillion.

Could be a couple of things... Are the drives in the 4 other PCs all fairly old? I have found that older CD-ROM drives are often unable to read these non-commercially written disks. If, however, the disks can't be read in a 40x or 52x speed CD-ROM drive, then you definitely have a problem with the alignment of the heads in your writable drive.

One other point: I find that frequently a CD-RW disk has to be 'closed' to make it readable in CD-ROMs. And some CD-ROMs can't read the 700MB disks, different track spacing would be my guess.

Hello Roger,

One of the computer is a brand new Presario 700 laptop.
I was surprised that this new computer can't read the burned cd from the hp pavillion.

The door of the cdrw is closed when I burn the cd.

Zebra, Berton is talking about closing a CD's session. Meaning you cannot add to it anymore. It is usually an option within the record settings. You might try going to explorer and right clicking on the CD drive with one of these CD's in it. It may have the option to close the CD.
