I have one old Exchange 5,5 SP3 server on my DMZ which works
as a "mail gateway", and one old Exchange 5,5 SP3 server on
the internal network.
(All mailboxes are on the internal server.)
Both is NT4 and works fine.
Then I have a new W2000 server with Exchange 5,5 SP4 wich in the future should replace the old internal server.
From newly created mailboxes on the new server I can send and recieve internal mails, but external mails fails,
(both outgoing and incoming.)

I get repeated errors in the Event Viewer:
Ëvent ID:9318
An RPC communication has occured.
Unable to bind over RPC.
....
....

I have tried several suggestions from Microsoft regarding RPC tests but nothing works.
Does anyone have an idea?

Regards //Micke

Are all the servers in the same organization/site? If so, they should be able to communicate with one another through RPC. If not, set up an X.400 connector between the two. You may want to try to removing the IMS and reinstalling it on the external box. Is there a firewall between the two? Make sure you've got the correct ports open on the firewall for inbound and outbound traffic.

All servers are in the same org/site.
There is a firewall between the 2 inside servers and the one on the DMZ, but i am sure the firewall is configured correctly.
Any other suggestions?
