osx panther cd wouldnt boot up

Are you using a mouse/wheel/trackpad that is not Apple?
I found that my Kensington Wheel with Four Buttons would not allow it to start up from the CD. Once I hooked up the original mouse, it started from the CD just fine.
Software: XL2002 on Win2K
Humanware: Older than dirt
