OS not found Install an OS on this harddrive HELP!

I have had so much trouble with this message. I've tried and tried but i can't succesfully install an operating system in virtual pc. I have a power mac g4 and i would really appreciate some help.

i'm having this problem as well. I can't find any other troubleshooting for installing an OS. apparently when i restart virtual pc it is supposed to recognize the cd and begin setup, but the "install OS" message just keeps reappearing. (i'm trying to install XP). if anyone has a possible solution, i'd be very greatful... thanks.

Hi! I'm having this problem as well. Installed VPC 6.0 and am trying to install Windows 95 now. "OS not found. Install an OS on this hard drive." appears again and again. Would be great to learn how to tackle this one, thanks!

To install windows 95 on virtual pc 6 :

1) create a new pc for windows 95
2) there is in the virtual pc cd a PCDOSBOOT folder. In this folder, choose AUTOEXEC.BAT and doubleclick it, it will start the pc, it will write some things in the dos.
3) Write « e: » and push enter
4) Then, in E : write : install.exe and push enter, it will ask you if you want to start to install : push « y » for yes
5) The install wizard will start and when complete, it will say something about a floppy or a disquette : say OK and shut the pc down.
6) From the finder of your mac (Oh thank God), eject the PCDOSBOOT
7) Restart the pc, it will normally boot with windows 95, but let the Windows95 CD in the machine, because it is still needed.
8) It should work now….
