Hello,

I am having trouble running some programmes such as Windows Media Player and MSN Messenger and keep getting the error message of "The ordinal 176 cannot be located in the dynamic link library OLEAUT32.dll". Reinstalling these programmes did not solve the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Cam

I have the same exact problem..please if anyone knows about this..your post is appreciated!

If you are running Win2K SP3 then OLEAUT32.DLL should be

613k dated 07/22/2002 and return version 2.40.4518.0

It's part of the OLE set and there is a copy in

%systemroot%\ServicePackFiles\I386

Bear in mind that it's part of a SET !! On my system the following are all the same date and time

OLEPRO32.DLL
OLEAUT32.DLL
OLECNV32.DLL
olethk32.dll

Hope this helps

Ian

So, what you are saying is that if I have a different dated versions in a set, then I should re-install service pack 3?

Reinstalling SP3 should fix it.

Since you and cammy have the same problem, I would be interested to know what version you have at present.

Ian

Ok, thanks, I wont know what version it is until I go home tonight, but I am going to re-install service pack 3 anyhow.

The version I have at the moment is 2.30.4261.1 and is 584k. I will try reinstalling SP3 to try and fix it.

Thanks

Cameron

Cameron,

That's part of Office 2000 SR1. Let me know if SP3 fixes it

Ian

Reinstalled SP3 and everything is working fine again.

Thanks

Cam

Sorry !!

Methinks we should be enjoying the sunshine, instead of pounding on keyboards
