Hi,

We are running JDE world A7.3. Can anyone please suggest how to take care of the cases where order may be cancelled or order quantity revised after shipment Confirmation step is over.

For example : After we have completed "shipment confirmtn" aginst a bulk of quantity for an order of a customer(though physically goods are yet to leave the shipping point for Ship to address ), the customer cancells the whole order or reduces the order quantity.

This has happend a few times in recent past for us. Can anyone suggest how to take care of this "cancellation" in normal JDE process? or we have to customize a lot.

thanks
Dasgupta

Here is a couple of things to try:
A. Check the Order Activity Rules and make sure that on the Ship Confirm line you are allowed to go back to the Order Entry status. If not, add the allowable status in order to go back to the original order and make the necesary changes. Then process the order through Pick and Ship Confirm again in order to have your paperwork print out with the correct shipment information.
B. You may find that you are not allowed to make changes to the original order. This means that the Processing Options for Order Entry are set to not allow changes after a certain status. Simply change the Processing Option to allow changes to the order, make the necessary changes and process the order through the reamining steps.

* Most of the inventory buckets will be automatically adjusted during this process, all others will adjust during End of Day processing when you run the Status Update program.

Dasgupta,

It sounds like your customer is setup to not allow backorders or maybe not shortorders at all. These flags are in the customer billing instructions. The problem could also be at the item level. There is an 'Allow Backorder' flag at the item level that may be causing the item to cancel at ship confirm. 1 other possibibility is that if the item stock type is obsolete or 'use-up', this will cause the item to cancel if not ship-confirming the whole qty.

hope you find (or found) your culprit.
