I am considering using webdb as a front end and reporting tool for an oracle 8i data warehouse, has anyone had any experience with this tool ???? any info on success and/or failure would be appreciated....
Check out the Oracle: WebDB discussion group here. You'll find some interesting posts.

I have used (am currently using) Web DB for a project I am on. One thing I would caution you on. I would not use it for anything that is business rule intensive. What I mean is if you are going to be looking at one table at a time and doing minor changes and look ups it is very nice. Once you try to build a full featured UI using WebDB you find all of the limitations of the product. Also reporting was much easier using OAS and Reports Server Cartridge. We used that to do any reporting from the WebDB interface. If your user needs to print that is the way to go. If the user just needs view only capabilities the WebDB reporter is okay. The problem is it is web based and you have very little control over formatting and pretty much no control over printed formatting. IMHO I would only use WebDB if you are giving your users very little functionality. I haven't used Oracle Forms to do web development but everything I have read and heard that is the way I wish my project would have gone.
If you have time to wait to implement WebDB 3 should be available soon. From what I've heard this should (read may) be much more robust.

Again check out the WebDB group. There are a few threads with both positive and negative experiences with WebDB.
thanks td, i didn't know there was a webdb discussion group, i need the real world view on this product not just the oracle perspective.... thanks again...id
