Non technical one this. Under the new rules, you have to pay 8% of the server price for Solaris support, or 12% for full hw and sw support. And for non-Oracle servers, it's $1000 per socket per year.

But what happens if you want to run Solaris in a VM?

So far, nobody at our reseller seems to be able to get an answer. Anyone else doing this?

Buy your support from elsewhere - ignore Oracle's rules?

The internet - allowing those who don't know what they're talking about to have their say.
 
Problem is, the only way you are entitled to updates for Solaris (as far as I know) and other Oracle software, is by taking out support from Oracle (or via a reseller).
 
hello every body ,I use solaris 10 on VMware ,I have user's name kasem
has home directory /export/home/kasem
I create this user completely , but ,when I need to create file or directory ,when I'm loged in by this user , shows error " cann't create file"

please : I'd like to get the answer .
